Under Relevant Contracts Tax, the principal contractor notifies Revenue of each contract and payment through eRCT on ROS, and Revenue tells them whether to deduct 0%, 20% or 35%. What the app does is keep the job, your labour and your invoice accurate, so the figures you agree with the principal are easy to check. On construction services within RCT, the principal contractor usually accounts for the VAT under the reverse charge, so add that note to the invoice rather than charging VAT yourself.
